Team's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Feb 27, 2024

Dear Friends and Family,

This year we, Kameryn Fedele and Quincy Holt, are incredibly blessed and honored to be nominated as candidates to lead a team, Knockout Cancer, in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2024 Students Visionaries of the Year Campaign. Students Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week fundraising competition led by local high school students, in which we raise money to support the LLS in their fight to end blood cancer. We are writing today to ask for your support for our campaign and LLS’s mission to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and families on their journey. We feel so lucky to be able to use this opportunity to help others in our community, and we ask for your support in this journey, for we cannot do it without you.

Both of us are juniors at Clovis High School, who value not only being involved in our school but our community as well. Both of us have accomplished great things academically, with accolades ranging from Block C, to CSF, to Principals Honor Roll. Not only are academics important to us, but on campus involvement as well, being that we are heavily involved in leadership. Between the two of us we have held several different positions in student government on our campus. The Clovis High leadership program has provided us with good leadership skills, as well as opportunities to give back to our community. We have donated countless hours to our community helping at local elementary schools, nursing homes, sporting events and much more volunteer work. Along with this, Kameryn is a member of the Clovis Youth Commission, in which she strives to better our community from a youth perspective and educate our peers. We hope to truly make a difference as candidates for SVOY, and once again give back to our community.

From February 29th to April 19th, team Knockout Cancer has a goal to raise $100,000! This money will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission. We know this is an ambitious undertaking, but we know that we can achieve it with the help of our amazing friends and families.

We are leading this team in honor of our hero, Eden who is currently fighting Acute myeloid leukemia (AML).  Eden’s story is extremely inspiring, as she has persevered to battle through this form of cancer from such a young age. AML proves to be highly fatal, with a survival rate of a mere 25%. We both hold Eden and her family close to our hearts, as she is Nick Muro, former SVOY candidate and leader of team Knockout Cancer’s, cousin’s niece. After seeing what Eden and her family went through due to this horrible disease, we wanted to participate in this great cause and do everything we can to help her and others who are affected by Leukemia, Lymphoma, and all types of blood cancer.

The LLS is an organization to be proud to support, as it helps families in cases similar to Eden’s every day. The LLS has assisted in advancing 55 of the 65 blood cancer treatment options that have been approved by the U.S FDA from 2017 until now. The LLS also funds projects such as the Dare to Dream project, in which treatment plans are developed specifically to reduce long term health consequences for children with blood cancers. We are proud to represent an organization that makes an impact with its funds, and we hope you will be as well.

We thank you in advance for supporting this incredible cause, and please remember, every bit counts. We are certain our friends and family are the most generous and strongest among any of the candidates this year and we look forward to letting you know that our campaign has reached its goal!
